For A Life Worth Celebrating

In Honor of Mothers

Gifts, StylingKeith Field

There is no denying that this is an extraordinary time to be a mother.

This year, on mother’s day, we are redefining what it means to be connected. Our celebrations look different, our gift giving looks different, and our interactions look different. But the value of that motherhood connection is as strong as it could ever be.

Connection is a fundamental part of motherhood - emotionally connecting to thoughts and feelings; physically connecting to feed, hold, and heal; and mentally connecting the needs of a family with the demands of the world. Motherhood requires and thrives in constant connection.

We’re celebrating the mothers this year who are working full time jobs through the chaos of home life, trying to make time for conference calls and bike riding and geometry lessons. The mothers who are putting the kids to bed then going back to work for two more hours just to fit it in. We’re celebrating the mothers home with young children for hours on end, with no reprieve and no distractions, desperately longing for a change of scenery. The mothers who can barely remember what day it is but keep prioritizing daily meals, daily routines, and keeping their kids feeling calm and safe in the middle of turmoil.

We’re celebrating the mothers who have experienced the joy of watching their own children become parents and now are unable to spend time with them. The mothers who are constantly evolving and employing new and creative ways to assist their own grown children from afar, read their grandchildren bedtime stories, and keep that connection of family strong.

We’re celebrating the mothers whose homes were once buzzing with noise and activity, but are now alone in their quiet homes. The mothers who are eager to travel to see their family again, and to embrace them in their own homes someday soon.

Even more so this year, we take pause to celebrate the mother figures in our lives who lift us up, sustain our spirits, and provide us with the ultimate sense of connection.
