Frequently Asked Questions

How can I clean my jewelry at home?

For diamond and some gemstone jewelry, clean regularly using a commercial jewelry cleaner, a mix of ammonia and water, or a mild detergent. Dip jewelry into the solution and use a soft bristle brush, like a toothbrush, to dislodge dirt from under the setting.  Emeralds, pearls, and opals in particular must have specific care.

How often should I have my fine jewelry appraised?

Due to the ever changing precious metals and stone market, it is important for your insured jewelry pieces to have current replacement values.  For this reason, have your fine jewelry appraised every three to five years.

How often should I have my jewelry checked for loose stones or broken prongs?

At least once a year stop by to have your diamond ring checked, and every six months if it is worn on a constant basis.  We clean your jewelry professionally and check it for wear.

How often should I have my watch cleaned?

We recommend mechanical watches to be cleaned every three years.  Watches with a quartz movement do not experience nearly as much wear as mechanical and do not need to be cleaned as often.  Ultimately, the frequency of its cleaning is determined on the environmental conditions of the watch over its lifetime.
